Professional Expertise

Jim Forbes is the Adjunct Professor for Final Year Civil Engineering Design and was formerly Chairman of Scott Wilson Irwin Johnson.

At SWIJ, Jim was involved with the planning, design, coordination and supervision of a wide range of buildings and other engineering structures. From his initial qualifications and experience in structural and civil engineering, he has developed a broad understanding of many other engineering disciplines as well as contractual and administrative procedures.

He is an acknowledged expert in concrete and concrete structures and has designed many concrete structures and investigated problems in many others.

Jim has carried out reviews of many major engineering problems and in doing so has earned the respect of his fellow engineers for his responsible and professional approach in this area.

With the merger of SWIJ into Hyder Consulting, Jim is now the Regional Business Development Manager.
