Postgraduate Coursework and Research Degrees
Coursework Degrees - Masters, Diplomas, Certificates and Non-Award Programs
The School offers a variety of coursework units of study in the fields of structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, fluids/environmental engineering, and project management.
There are several options available to students: Master of Engineering (nominally 8 standard units of study); Graduate Diploma (nominally 6 standard units of study); Graduate Certificate (nominally 4 standard units of study); or non-award study (as little as a single unit of study) in the various fields described above.
Our coursework programs can be achieved in one to four semesters depending on the level of degree and either part or full time.

Research Degrees - PhD and Masters
The School of Civil Engineering offers research degrees at different levels:
- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
- Master of Philosophy (MPhil)
- Doctor of Engineering Practice
MPhil is usually 1.5 - 2 years full time, while the PhD is usually 3 - 3.5 years full time on a research program closely supervised by one of our academic staff. Part-time research degrees are possible.
