Coursework Degrees - Masters, Diplomas, Certificates and Non-Award Programs

The School offers a variety of coursework units of study in the fields of structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, fluids/environmental engineering, project management, and other courses

Typically each subject, known as a "unit of study", is worth 6 credit points, and often consists of a mix of contact hours at university through lectures and tutorials, on-line work, and at home assignments and study.

There are 4 options available to students:

  • Master of Engineering (ME) requires completion of 48 credit points, usually completed as 8 separate units of study over 2 semesters full-time or over longer by enrolling part time.
  • A Graduate Diploma requires completion of 36 credit points, usually completed as 6 separate units of study over 2 or 3 semesters.

Specialisation Choices for Coursework Students

Our units of study are at an advanced level, suitable for someone who already has an undergraduate engineering degree or equivalent.

Many of our students are practicing professionals keen to learn on some of the latest developments, or perhaps expand their knowledge into different disciplines. We also have many international students with engineering degrees from their own countries, who are seeking to obtain an Australian qualification.

Our course offerings are in the following areas:

  • Full flexibility with a standard Masters of Engineering (ME) in which you may take masters courses in any of our disciplines listed below.
  • Structural engineering: Master of Engineering (Structures) (ME (Struct)), or Certificate or Diploma
  • Geotechnical engineering: Master of Engineering (Geotechnical) (ME (Geotech)) or Certificate or Diploma
  • Fluids/environmental engineering: Our new degrees in either Master of Engineering (Fluid and Wind Engineering) (ME (FluidWind)) or Master of Engineering (Environmental Fluids) (ME (EnvirFluid)), or Certificate or Diploma
  • Project management. Masters or Certificate or Diploma.
  • Other courses
