ASSCCA’03 is being jointly organised by

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering
The University of New South Wales.

Commenced as The New South Wales University of Technology in 1949, the University’s international context is that of the Australian recognition of that scientific and technological impulse in tertiary education that produced the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Berlin University of Technology. It acknowledged at university level that profound development in human knowledge and concern that had impelled the nineteenth century industrial and scientific revolution.

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering has a broad spectrum of expertise in the disciplines of Civil and Environmental Engineering.  The School consists of five groups:

Engineering Construction and Management

Geotechnical Engineering

Structural Engineering

Transport Engineering

Water Engineering

The Department of Civil Engineering
The University of Sydney.

The University of Sydney, Australia's first university, was established in 1850. Today, with a rich diversity of courses and a reputation for teaching and research excellence, the University attracts students and staff from around the world. Many of the academic staff and graduates are leaders in their respective fields, making major contributions both locally and internationally.
Civil Engineering has been part of The University since 1882.  The Department is world renowned for its work in the areas of structures and geomechanics, and is continuing this work today in these and other new areas such as project management and wind engineering.

The Department was/is home to distinguished Professors in structures, such as Jack Roderick, Nick Trahair, and Greg Hancock.
